Child Discipleship: Discipling/Equipping Children for What is to Come #1

Tool for Primary Disciplers
THE INTENTIONAL DISCIPLESHIP OF YOUR CHILDREN.

The days that lay ahead are going to become more and more difficult – you MUST prepare your children.  Ask God for wisdom as you disciple your children to be ready for whatever He has planned for them in the days ahead. Proverbs 2

KEY:
Who is God?

PRAYER:

Ask the Triune God to give your child deep insight into who He is and to daily transform him/her to be more Christ-like.  Talk often with your children of how you are continually gaining a deeper understanding of who God is.

01 8.1YahwehisSalvation

YAHWEH IS SALVATION    Unit 8, Lesson 1

Isaiah’s name means Yahweh is salvation, and it summarizes Isaiah’s message very well – God alone is our savior and He has an amazing plan to do so. Isaiah lays out God’s plan for a savior to come from the tribe of Judah.

Who “God is” is the theme of Isaiah. Everything God does is about Himself (Isaiah 48:11). Therefore it is imperative that we KNOW God:

  • He is Holy – 6:3
  • He is full of grace – 6:7
  • His anger is fierce – 9:12, 17, 21        family
  • He is sovereign – 14:26-27
  • He is Redeemer – 43:1-7
  • He alone is Savior 43:10-13
  • He alone is King – 44:6-8
  • He is Provider 55:1-5
  • He IS – 57:15
  • He is Judge – 66:24

The entire book is one of encouragement for those who walk with God as Isaiah points towards God’s grace to a rebellious people. The ultimate act of grace is Jesus taking our sin upon Himself (Isaiah 53:5, 2 Corinthians 5:21).

Take time to read through the above scriptures, pray over each one and ask the Lord to show you how Yahweh alone is our salvation.

Do you know God fully? Do your children know who God is?

As a family – take time to read through the above scriptures, pray over each one and ask the Lord to show you Himself in a deeper way.

Ask God to give you wisdom to help your children understand who He is.

About Wanda

I have worked with children and families for over 40 years in both secular and Christian settings. • Following college I joined VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) and served in a migrant labor camp in Texas. • After VISTA I married Joe Parker. Joe was a Boy’s Club Director and we served in several inner city and barrio areas in So. California. • I served as Children’s Director and Family Pastor in three Orange County Churches. During this time I was a co—founder of CCMA • Right after the Los Angeles riots, and while serving as Family Pastor at Mariners Church in Newport Beach, Campus Crusade approached me to develop a reproducible ministry to reach children in inner city areas of America, known today as S.A.Y. Yes! Centers of America. • In 1998 I was invited along with 25 others, representing every continent of the world, to be part of a symposium in England. This was the initial gathering for the creation of a curriculum to equip people working with children living in difficult circumstances. Celebrating Children is taught today in Christian universities around the world. • In 2001 KidTrek was begun, a unique ministry to equip the Church to disciple children. Married for 47 years, I have three married children and eight grandchildren who walk with the Lord. The greatest gift a mother could ever have.
