About

Hey, it looks like you’re new! Welcome. 🙂 You may want to subscribe to KidTrek- Sunday Plus or follow me on Twitter. Thanks for visiting! –Wanda

The KidTrek – Sunday Plus Blog is about how and what the Lord taught me in forty years of working directly with children (while raising three of my own) to earnestly and willingly seek him, resulting in adults who become independently dependent on God’s Word, dynamically and completely submitted to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

When my children were very young I had cried out to Jesus and pleaded with Him to teach me how to raise up my own children so they would walk with Jesus forever. I was so afraid that my children would walk away from the Lord.  Today my three children and their families walk with Jesus and are actively involved in ministry.

I am amazed with the journey the Lord has taken me on.

The Lord has given me amazing experiences that has laid a foundation for my perspective on Child Discipleship. He opened doors for me to serve children and their families that blows this simple farm raised kid away –

I have worked with children and families for over 40 years in both secular and Christian settings. • Following college I joined VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) and served in a migrant labor camp in Texas. • After VISTA I married Joe Parker. Joe was a Boy’s Club Director and we served in several inner city and barrio areas in So. California. • I served as Children’s Director and Family Pastor in three Orange County Churches. During this time I was a co—founder of Children’s Christian Ministry Association • Right after the Los Angeles riots, and while serving as Family Pastor at Mariners Church in Newport Beach, Campus Crusade approached me to develop a reproducible ministry to reach children in inner city areas of America, known today as S.A.Y. Yes! Centers of America. • In 1998 I was invited along with 25 others, representing every continent of the world, to be part of a symposium in England. This was the initial gathering for the creation of a curriculum to equip people working with children living in difficult circumstances. Celebrating Children is taught today in Christian universities around the world. • In 2001 KidTrek was begun, a unique ministry to equip the Church to reach families in crisis. Married for 49 years, I have three married children and eight grandchildren who walk with the Lord. The greatest gift a mother could ever have.

God has brought me to the place I am today – developing a child discipleship curriculum  – Sunday Plus.

A gospel-centered curriculum, Sunday Plus guides a church through intentional child discipleship. Becoming Specialists and Disciplers, adults employ their innate giftedness with children, helping them internalize truth while deepening their relationship with Jesus and the local Body of Christ. Parents are equipped to teach their children, day by day, especially as ‘teachable moments’ present themselves. Gatherings of children are age appropriate, packed with spiritual challenge, critical thinking opportunities, and plenty of fun.

It’s more than curriculum.

It’s an indispensable exercise in real-life ministry for kids and adults – extending beyond Sunday mornings.

I hope you will wander through and learn something that will help you in your ministry or as a parent.  Be sure to subscribe and follow how God will continue the work He began so many years ago.

Why It Takes A Church To Raise A Child The Church has rarely taken seriously its role in raising up children to become Godly adults – thus we are losing 70% of our church raised children today.

  1. Hi folks,
Love the simple, calm, thoughtful way you speak about ministry with children! Thank you for helping us all remember to be specifically intentional.

I have an Internet radio ministry for your consideration as a recommendation for the sound in the nursery: http://www.commongoodradio.org
Before ordained ministry – I made my living in media, mostly children’s media. This project brings my gifts together. No commercials, all music and talk, blessings and scripture for kids and those who love them.
    I would covet your input.
    blessings with grace, Robin

    Good evening!

My name is Bryce Morgan, and I’m a pastor here in sunny Arizona. I am also the creator of a new gospel-centered resource called “Rescue Me! What Superheroes Can Teach Us about the Power of Faith”. Like so many families, my three kids (ages 10, 7, and 5) love characters like Superman, Batman, and Spiderman. From cartoons to books to movies, superheroes seem to be everywhere these days! But here’s how “Rescue Me!” is different. Using a hero named Captain Sun, my book takes classic hero themes and connects kids back to God’s word. But don’t take my word for it. Download a free preview copy of the book from my website and see for yourself (www.itscaptainsun.com/preview)(it’s 75% of the book!). I think your readers will love it!

If you like what you see and would like to do a review, I’m happy to send you a copy of the book for yourself or for a giveaway (or can send one directly to winner).

The book is available on Amazon.com, but you can get a better deal when you order direct from the publisher (CreateSpace (a division of Amazon.com). Contact me as well about deeper discounts for bulk orders! Just click on the “Buy” tab at http://www.itscaptainsun.com.

I’m grateful for your help in spreading the word about this unique resource. Thanks!

    In His grace,

    Bryce
